Academics from the University of Udayana argued that social problems such as poverty and crime became a serious threat to the development of tourism in Bali.
“The other side of the impact of the development of various tourism related businesses is a problem of poverty and crime,” said Tourism Faklutas faculty of Udayana University, I Gusti Agung Oka Mahagangga in Denpasar, on Saturday.

At the seminar and the launch of the book “Tourism and Poverty Alleviation”, he argues that the development of tourism in Bali is currently facing various problems, ranging from the development that is not directed, environmental, demographic, socio-political, cultural degradation because of the impact of globalization to the crime.
Oka is said, there are strong indications that poverty is associated with thuggery and ultimately could threaten the future of Bali tourism.
